Black Belt Learning Offer

Luke · Black Belt Learning

Here's how we'll help your son be at or above where he should be at school, feel confident and be ready to smash it in high school.

I'm looking for three boys aged 10 to 12 who need help with their learning and confidence.

Where he is now is not what he is capable of.

You know it. Your boy most likely knows it too.

You have seen him motivated and doing well in other parts of his life.

He can focus for hours on the things he loves. Then he shuts down or turns away when reading, writing or maths comes out.

I'm a teacher, and I've seen this a lot.

It usually doesn't start with a boy being lazy. It starts when the work feels pointless or too hard.

Then he switches off and misses a few key skills. The next lot of work gets harder than it should be.

His confidence takes a hit. He gives up sooner, and it keeps getting worse.

Your son doesn't need to be an A+ student to do well in life.

But he does need to read well, write clearly and be good with maths, so he has choices.

Black Belt is built to deal with that head-on.

We find the gaps now and help him get real wins. We do it before high school work gets harder and his confidence takes another hit.

I'll work with these boys myself, and I take that seriously.

The goal is simple

Within two weeks of starting, you'll know his exact gaps. He will have a clear path to get where he needs to be.

From there, we help your son make gains you can measure in reading, writing and maths.

That builds his confidence.

Think:

A parent: He is loving it! He went up in maths and is at the correct level for his age now.

But most of all, he proves to himself, "I'm actually good at this."

A parent: I can hear him bragging about how quickly he just smashed this long division to his friends. Whoohoo!

Here's how we get him moving again

Step 1: Find the gap

First, we do a quick check with your son over Google Meet.

It shows us where he's at: what he's strong at and where he gets stuck.

Most boys who struggle aren't bad at school.

They usually have a few gaps that no one has fixed. Those gaps make everything after them harder.

Once we find the gaps, the mystery is gone. We can fill them before he moves on to harder work.

He will also get a motivation plan to get him excited about getting better.

Most boys aren't that fussed on schoolwork. We need to make it matter to him.

A parent: I've never heard him saying 'can I do more reading? I've got 5 more mins of reading to do'. Thank you.

When we set this up properly, he's much more likely to stick with it.

Step 2: Stack visible wins

He gets his own Black Belt plan. It's built like a game and made for boys.

He can see the belt he's on, the next challenge and the next win.

That takes the guesswork out of “Am I getting better?”

He also gets feedback straight away, so he knows how he's doing.

It works because boys are part of the process.

That matters. Most boys don't just need more work.

They need to see themselves getting better.

A parent: he got a writing assignment back and had one of the top marks in class, which has never happened. A real testament to your program.

His goal is to reach Black Belt, which is Year 9 work. He gets there by moving up through the colour belts.

Each belt is harder than the last. It also uses skills from the belts before it.

If he can't pass an activity, we stay on it. We work on it together until he gets it.

Step 3: Keep him moving every week

Your son meets with me live over Google Meet twice a week.

Each session is 30 minutes at a set time, in a small group of 1–4 boys.

Two parents on Facebook recommend Luke. One was skeptical about online tutoring, but a boy who struggled with and hated reading started to read. The other says her son loves it and it has really helped him with his schoolwork.

Sessions are focused, and we get stuck in. I expect every boy to give his best effort.

That gives him structure, and someone to answer to who isn't Mum or Dad.

He can use the programme at any time, and some boys choose to work outside our sessions.

This is optional. I know some boys are busy with sports and other things.

Step 4: You see it working

You get a parent portal that shows what he is working on and how he is going.

So you aren't left guessing or quizzing him after every session.

You can also move or pause sessions there.

We test often and share the results with your boy. He is part of the talk about how he is going.

A parent: he is really missing his sessions too. The head teacher for his year said he got in the top 5% on the PAT testing.

We work on this together: boy, parent and me.

Learning is done “with” your boy, not “to” him. That small difference matters a lot.

Is this your son?

Black Belt is for the boy who is bright and switched on in the right setting, but schoolwork makes him feel like he's not.

It's for the parent who thinks, "I don't want him starting high school already believing he's bad at school."

I'm looking for a certain kind of family:

  1. Your son gets frustrated, avoids schoolwork or gives up fast when it feels hard.
  2. He has a computer he can use (a Chromebook is fine).
  3. He can make it to two sessions a week.
  4. He can hold a conversation.
  5. He is not extremely far behind. If he is, Black Belt won't be right for him.
  6. You know he can do better, and you're ready to fix it now.

Where and when?

I run sessions each week. Families can choose to keep going through the school holidays.

All sessions are live over Google Meet, so your son can join from home.

Session times:

Your investment

These three Black Belt spots are $97 a week right now. That covers:

You pay weekly. There is no lock-in contract, and you can cancel any time.

My promise: if I check your son and don't think Black Belt is right for him, I'll tell you. I won't take the spot.

If he isn't engaging after his first two sessions, you don't pay for them.

I'll give you your money back and we can walk away with no hard feelings.

I only want boys in Black Belt who I believe I can help.

When these three spots are taken, I'm closing intake. There are only so many spots.

What to do next

I'm excited to see him level up his skills and become more confident.

If this sounds right for your son:

  1. Reply to my message saying "I'm in".
  2. I'll ask a couple of quick questions about your son and where he's at.
  3. If it looks like a fit, we'll book his first session and hold one of the three spots.

No pressure either way. If I don't think it's right for him, I'll tell you.

Cheers, Luke

P.S. Within his first two weeks, I'll send you his Starting Point Map.

It's a short summary of where he's strong and his main gaps, in plain English. That way, you'll know where he is at.
